Today’s blog post is going to be all about my dog Rossa. You may have seen him in a blog post before if you read the post about his 3rd birthday but apart from that I don’t think he has been in any other posts. In this blog post I’m going to be telling you all about Rossa and kind of introducing him to you all properly so I hope you enjoy learning more about my four legged friend.
How Rossa came into my life:
I’m going to start at the very beginning and tell you all how Rossa came into my life.It all happened when my brothers Shayne and Rikki went to Kildare with their friend (and my friend) Laura where they bought a tiny white puppy who is now called Rossa.I had no idea that they were doing this,I was in school and when I got into the car after achool my brother Shayne turned around to the back seat where I was sitting and handed me this shy little puppy.I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. They drove all the way to Kildare to surprise me with this little bundle of joy & I will be forever grateful!..Funny story actually after Shayne,Rikki & Laura bought Rossa,Laura went back to Kildare the next day to buy Rossa’s brother for herself and she decided to name him Frankie!
Rossa’s place in the family:
Rossa is for sure apart of the family. He has a place in everyone’s heart in the family and everyone loves him.He has come on all of our holidays in Ireland with us,he sleeps in my bed, sometimes he sleeps in my brother Dylan’s bed and sometimes he sleeps in my parents bed (but he always ends up coming back to my room in the end).Rossa is a very important member of the family and trust me he knows that and takes full advantage of it.
Things Rossa hates:
As sweet as Rossa is he definetly hates a few things.Bikes and motorbikes are his top two things of hatred.Whenever someone cycles past our house or drives by on a motorbike Rossa barks like crazy. He jumps up onto the ouch and barks out the window at them until they’re gone also if we’re out walking him and he see’s a cyclist he tries to chase them even though he’s on a lead. This of course makes everybody stare at him and they all think he’s crazy (which at times I often think so too,but I love him none the less)
Rossa may be small but let me tell you he has a lot of traits packed up in his personality. He is such an adventurer and is ALWAYS up to mischief. When he is tired and sleeping he does not like to be touched!…But really he is the sweetest little guy ever and he is SO playful,he could run for miles if you let him!..He also knows how to work it for the camera.I’m always taking pictures of him and he strikes the cutest poses.Yes I’ll admit I have to bribe him with treats but still, his pictures are always super cute.Overall if I had to describe his characterisitics in 3 words it would be:Mischievious,Adventurous & Unique because there’s not a lot of dogs that do things that he does he’s just so different and a lot of the timeshe acts like a human even the way he sits he just doesn’t act like a dog sometimes,he is hilarious!
Tricks that I thought him:
I really enjoy teaching Rossa new tricks. Some of them definetly took longer to teach him than others and then some he got right away. It’s quite fun to teach him new things because I feel so proud of him when he finally masters them.So the tricks that I have thought him are 1)Sit 2)Lie down 3)Paw 4)Stay.He hasn’t quite mastered “Stay” as much as the others but it’s ok I’m sure he’ll get the hang of it some day.Sometimes he just picks some tricks up better than others and that’s fine.I would for sure like to teach him some more new tricks because it’s a lot of fun and I feel it’s good for dogs to learn new things every now and then 🙂
Dog show experiences:
Rossa has been to quite a few dog shows. My family and I love bringing the dogs to dog shows during the summers because it’s always a great day out and the dogs really enjoy it (If you don’t already know I have 2 dogs,Chaz and Rossa. If you’d like a blog post on Chaz do let me know).Dog shows are also a really good way for your dog to get more sociable with other dogs and people.Rossa has won quite a few prizes at dog shows,he has won 6 Rosettes (2 for 2nd place,2 for 3rd place and 2 for novelty prizes) and he has won 1 trophy for 2nd place.
I will admitt it took Rossa a little while to get used to dog shows,I think at first he felt a bit overwhelmed at them because he would just bark at everything the whole time we would be there but at recent ones we went to in the summer he was much more calm, didn’t bark at all and he looked as if he enjoyed the day.During the summer me,my parents,my friend Laura,Rossa and his brother Frankie all went to a dog show together and it was a great day. There was even a fancy dress cateory for the dogs and Rossa & Frankie dressed up and both won prizes. It was a great day!
Rossa is so precious to me and he means even more to me because my brothers got him for me.He is a huge part of my life and my families life.Everyone loves him and he has been a massive part of our life for 3 years now.He brings so much happieness and character to our home and I love him so much.
This post has been so long and there is still SO much more that I could tell you about Rossa but I’ll just have to save it all for a future blog post.Let me know in the comments if you have read to the end because if you have then congratulations!
Thanks for reading,
