This book tells the story of a young girl who comes from an unsettled background between being kicked out by her stepdad, moving school and living in fear of her stepdad. She meets someone who helps her think that maybe there is such a thing of a better life much to her stepdads fury she sees him behind her family’s back.
I read this book in one sitting,I could not put it down.It made me feel as if I was in the book with Eleanor and every time something went wrong I found myself gasping in shock as if I was there in her house.I think the reason I liked this book so much was because it was quite realistic and Eleanor wasn’t afraid to be herself and even though she didn’t fit in with everyone else she didn’t change, she stayed true to herself all the way through out the story.
This book included topics such as domestic abuse, poverty, change, bullying and new relationships.
I could feel the fear of everyone in Eleanor’s household every time her stepdad kicked off and I really got into the story because it wasn’t all plain sailing and there was so much drama and complications for Eleanor and Park. The ending was left quite mysterious but I loved it.
Overall I loved this book,I couldn’t put it down and I think the author Rainbow Rowell did an amazing job with all of the story lines, not just the relationship between Eleanor & Park but also what it’s like to live in a house where there’s domestic abuse and the school bullying.
I would recommend this book to anyone who’s 15+,
Thank you all for reading,
